"GUILLAUME-LE-CONQUÉRANT, Duke of Normandy and King of England, born in FALAISE (Calvados) in 1027. Its history and the description of the bronze equestrian statue which, after being exhibited on the Champs-Elysées in Paris, will be inaugurated in Falaise on 26th October 1851, the anniversary of the victorious entry of William and his comrades-in-arms into the city of London".
