AUTOMOBILE] PARIS-MADRID RACE, 1903. An oblong in-8 album containing 24 original photographs printed on paper and mounted on the album pages with tabs. Various sizes: 8.5 x 11.5 cm, 6 x 9 cm, 7 x 9 cm. Pictures sometimes a little faded. The Paris-Madrid car race via Bordeaux is a race that has only been held once. It is considered to be the VIIIth ACF Grand Prix automobile. It started on Sunday 24 May 1903 at 3.30am in Versailles and was initially planned to last three days, 24, 26 and 27 May, but was stopped by the authorities in Bordeaux before it was completed due to the large number of accidents, including the death of driver Marcel Renault. The photos show us views of the cars in races, at the stop, of the accident of the n° 290 (Terry, Mercedes), the n° 175 of Gustave Caillois on Serpollet, the n°125 of Delaney on De Dietrich which will not finish the race (accident), the n°225 of Arthur Durat on Gobron-Brillé, the n°85 of René de Brou on De Dietrich, the n°157 of Hugé on Renault AK (abandonment), the n°172 of Jeandré on Mors Z, the n°23 of Tourand on Brouhot (abandonment due to an accident) and 4 pictures of the n°168 of Fernand GABRIEL, who will be declared winner of the race on a Mors Z.
