[MARINE] ROUTTIER, Capitaine au long Cours:... - Lot 68 - Vermot et Associés
[MARINE] ROUTTIER, Capitaine au long Cours: Reunion of original documents concerning him, including an important file concerning the sinking of the "Aimable Rose" and the heroic rescue of its crew. The "Aimable Rose", a French chaser loaded with slate and cotton in Nantes, was on its way to Caen and Le Havre. Caught in the storm, the ship's captain tried to take refuge in the port of Boulogne-Sur-Mer, in sight of which it was to be wrecked on 30 September 1821. Captain ROUTTIER, a privateer with a rich history of maritime misadventures, witnessed the scene and immediately requisitioned a boat and with the help of some sailors rushed to the aid of the shipwrecked. With difficulty they save the unfortunate people. This act of bravery will earn Captain Routtier the recognition of the public authorities for his "humanity". Most of the documents are about this event, plus some personal documents about captain Routtier.
