ELECTRIC ROAD CIRCUIT "L'AUTOROUTE
Manufactured around 1965 in Meccano's Calais factory. Slot circuit in the style of Scalextric© and other Circuit 24©, featuring 2 HO-scale cars, 6 curved rails, 7 straight rails, 2 speed bumps, 2 curved rails forming a trough, 1/2 straight, 5 supports, 2 control handles, plus 2 mechanical plastic miniatures, appearing slightly larger than the HO: 1 Mercedes 300 SL (condition A-) and 1 Jaguar Type E hard top (condition C, accident to rear bumper). Possibility of some missing parts, untested. Dimensions: 48 x 36 cm, with wedges, some paper missing from cover.
One of the special features of this set is the splendid illustration on the box lid, by the renowned poster artist Alexis KOW (1901-1978). Born in Moscow and naturalized in France in 1940, KOW worked for the advertising departments of France's leading car manufacturers, Panhard in particular. He also contributed to the magazine "L'Illustration".
