The Battle of Anghiari Interpreted on a 16th century Limousin enamel with golden highlights 10 x 13 cm It was in 1505 and for the Hall of the Five Hundred that Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, at the request of the life-long inflator Pier Soderini, began their painting projects of The Battle of Anghiari and The Battle of Cascina never completed. These frescoes, which have now disappeared, are only known to us through contemporary copies and engravings.
