DECORATION OF THE ORDER OF SAINT LOUIS. 1776. Letter signed by King LOUIS XVI (Secretary), countersigned Claude Louis de SAINT GERMAIN Maréchal de Camp, Secretary of State for War (1707 - 1778). Letter of notification of receipt of Louis Augustin DASTRUC DE VINTIMILLE to the dignity of Chevalier de SAINT LOUIS. He must take the Oath before the Marshal Duke of BIRON Colonel of the French Guard Regiment, and receive from him the embrace and the Cross that he must henceforth wear on your stomach, attached with a small fire-coloured ribbon. Written by VERSAILLES (Château de) on 23 November 1776. 1p large in-folio. (All St. Louis Decorations were to be destroyed during the Revolution.)
