DELAUNAY The President of the Criminal Court of the ORNE Department, sitting in Alençon (Header impr, sticker), to his friend the Citizen DESPREZ Member of the Legislative Body in Paris. 3pp in-4°. He instructed him that the appointment to the Special Court of the Citizen BILLEU Captain of Veterans to replace the citizen JOURDAN, who is in no way suitable to perform the duties of a judge. "He has neither the discernment nor the proper clothing for it, he is in the habit of drinking and getting drunk, it is a true La Tulipe. He cannot be entrusted with the task of pronouncing on the life and honour of his fellow citizens," he then replied about the new seeds of insurrection in the Orne Department. "I hope that the trial I am investigating on the occasion of the theft of the Diligence which was looted on the 1st Quarter last, on the road from Nogent to Chartres, will provide us with some information in this regard. We currently have 51 individuals arrested as accused of this theft... we will be if in the case of judging whether this attack is the result of political movements or if it is solely due to a spirit of local Brigandage. Among the defendants, we have five ex-Nobles... a former Chief Chouan and a returned Emigrant..."
