PARIS 1635. MONTMARTRE ABBEY. Piece signed "Sister Marie de BEAUVILLIERS, Abbess and Lady of MONTMARTRE and PONT-AUX-DAMES (77), in Paris on September 25, 1635. (transcription attached). Receipt of six thousand pounds tournaments for a district in arrears of annuity constituted on the Clergy of France. Vélin (12 x 19) Marie de BEAUVILLIERS, who was Abbess of Montmartre from 1596 to 1657, died at the age of 83 after having governed the Abbey for nearly 60 years. She was the Cousin Germaine of Gabrielle d'Estrées, Mistress and favourite of Henri IV.
