He is under no illusion as to his election to the Academy of Sciences: "as long as the section, either of astronomy or navigation, is willing to present me, do not put me in the front row, I am of course not nominated [...] You are telling me that you think that for the next election I will be put in the front row, let us hope that you will be a good prophet".... He speaks of poor Martinez, then of the son of Mouchez Charles, whom he found very good, and a "charming boy [...] it will make a good naval officer!"... + Letter A.S. from the astronomer Félix TISSERAND to Admiral Mouchez (December 8, 1885), about minutes of meetings.
