WHITE TERROR. SONGS. SARTHE. 1815. Proclamation of the Authorities commanding the Department of LA SARTHE, to the Inhabitants of the City of MANS. In Le Mans on 8 June 1815. "Bands of brigands infest various parts of this department, and bring devastation and desolation. They forcibly take away those they meet, and force them to become instruments of disorder and civil war... The EMPEROR has entrusted the defence of your homes: he asks you for any military service to help the troop of the line to pacify your own country. Arm yourselves to prevent the common enemy from coming to spread death in the city...
