- MONTBAREY (Alexandre-Marie-Léonor de SAINT MAURIS, prince of) 1732 - 1796. Colonel of the Swiss of the Count of Provence, Secretary of State for War in 1777. Patent signed on his engraved letterhead as Marshal of the Camps and Armies of the King, Captain-Colonel of the Swiss of the Guard of MONSIEUR, Minister and Secretary of State with the Department of War. NATIONAL AWARD PATENT and pension for a Sergeant of the Regiment of Flanders, native of MAUVAISIN (Haute-Garonne), having served 27 years. Done at VERSAILLES (78) on 15 April 1779. 1p engraved (22.5 x 32) in ink, laminated on parchment. The Patent was modified during the Revolution. The Signs of the Royalty were crossed out and replaced by the attributes of the Republic. A Phrygian flag replaces the Crown and a wax Seal of the French Republic masks the Coat of Arms of MONTBAREY.
