BORGEAUD Georges
Italics. Original edition, enriched with the author's signature and published in Paris, in the Collection "La Merveilleuse Collection" by Editions l'Age d'Homme, in 1969. Covered with a brocaded cover. Well preserved copy. Georges Borgeaud, born on 27 July 1914 in Lausanne and died on 6 December 1998 in Paris, is a Valaisan writer and bookseller. Georges Borgeaud studied at the colleges of Aubonne and Saint-Maurice, where he met Maurice Chappaz and Jean Cuttat, and then in a Belgian Benedictine monastery. His novel Le Préau (1952), partly autobiographical, describes this period of his life. Georges Borgeaud had to give private lessons in order to subsist, then work as a bookseller in Zurich and Fribourg. His stay at the Château de Glérolles, where he met Corinna Bille, was the setting for his second novel La Vaisselle des évêques (1959). This is followed by a collection of poetic prose, Italiques (1969), and a monograph devoted to the painter Pierre Boncompain.
