Leon Cladel and his litter of dogs. First edition, published in Paris, by L. Frinzine et Cie, in 1885. Covered with a brocaded cover, with the first plate illustrated. A fairly well preserved copy: spine faded, with the usual rubbing. Slight play in the hinge. Pages a little yellowed with a few light freckles. Léon Cladel (15 March 1835 - 21 July 18921) is a French novelist and short story writer. The whole of his work is a real success in France and Belgium. When Edmond de Goncourt expressed the wish to create a literary prize or at least a kind of cenacle, Cladel joined the group of writers, the first configuration of the future Académie Goncourt3.
