" Published in 110 issues, this edition is very illustrated, the text is composed on two columns; the maps, in the text, are in black. This book is the diary of a young traveler on his trip around the world with the Duke of Penthièvre, son of the Prince of Joinville." In 1866, leaving London, Count Ludovic de Beauvoir explored Australia, Java, Siam, Canton, Beijing, Yeddo (Tokyo) and San Francisco. He recounts their arrival in Melbourne, their travels in Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales. Ludovic de Beauvoir gives indications on the gold mines of Victoria. In Siam, Count de Beauvoir witnessed strange ceremonies, including the king's cremation rites. After a brief stay in Hong Kong, he goes to Macao, a veritable port of shipment of slaves to the new world, which arouses indignation and entanglement in him. In 1872, he publishes the sequel: Peking, Yeddo, San Francisco. From Peking to the Great Wall, and to the Land of the Rising Sun, de Beauvoir offers a host of unusual details about these two extreme Asian countries. Paris: PLON, sd (1878?). 884 pages, complete.
