COLBERT ET SON TEMPS - First edition, complete in two volumes (474 + 514 pages) and published in Paris, by E. Dentu, in 1877. Covered in a semi-marocco wedge binding, with a ribbed spine decorated with gold filets and a red title piece. Well preserved: a few rubbings on the headdresses and spine. Hinges in good condition. Fresh interior with some light freckles. Jean-Baptiste Colbert, born 29 August 1619 in Reims and died 6 September 1683 in Paris, was from 1665 one of Louis XIV's principal ministers, as Controller General of Finance (1665-1683), Secretary of State of the King's House and Secretary of State for the Navy (1669-1683).
