NODIER (Charles) / Tony Johannot
History of the King of Bohemia and his seven castles. First edition of one of the most sought-after romantic illustrated books, due to the 50 superb woodcuts by Tony Johannot in the text (first edition), and above all a very innovative typographical composition. "On page 44 are the medallion portraits of Eugène Delacroix and Lord Byron; on page 276, the portrait of Mr. Johannot, father of the two painters, Alfred and Tony, and further on, page 303, a portrait of Nodier, the closest likeness we have of the eminent writer." (Asselineau). The justification for the deluxe draw can be found on page 69. Paris, Delangle Frères, Imprimerie et Fonderie de G. Doyan, 1830. [ORIGINAL EDITION] 398pp. Complete. In-8 (14 x 23 cm) Period cardboard, title piece with slight lacks. 50 superb woodcuts by Tony Johannot in the text (first print).
