Jacques Pierre Brissot, or Brissot de Warville, born January 15, 1754 in Chartres and died guillotined on October 31, 1793 in Paris, is a French politician. He is presented as the leader of the Girondins during the French Revolution. His role in the outbreak of the war against Austria and the ensuing political debate with Robespierre had very important consequences on the struggle between Girondins and Montagnards. His newspaper, Le Patriote français, had a large audience and was the emanation of the ideas of the "parti brissotin".
