Eugénie MOUCHON, Dame NIBOYET, Femme de lettres, féministe, Saint Simonienne
Autograph letter signed "Eugénie NIBOYET" N°8 rue de la Chaise, on the letterhead "Société de la Morale Chrétienne", addressed to Mr PINETTE Owner N°8 of the Faubourg Montmartre. Paris 27th February 1843. 3pp in-8°. "Monsieur. I have just written to Mr. de LAROCHEFOUCAULD LIANCOURT, in your interests, I will act actively again with other people because this matter seems to me fair. Allow me, Sir, to recommend in advance, to your interest, a talented actress whom I knew through the tragedy of Agrippina, Mrs. DARCEY. Mr. SAINT LÉON threatened the management with resignation and, in order to hinder his progress, he caused her embarrassment. Mrs DARCEY had not had any role, her commitment did not bring her anything, Mr SAINT LÉON advised her to break it. Imprudently she followed his advice and all the theatres that could suit her were provided for her job, she refused the commitments that other directions had made to her . Madame DARCEY had beautiful creations at the Ambigu Comique, the Odeon and in Russia. She has a very pure diction, a noble maintenance, a pleasant physique... Allow me therefore to hope, Sir, that if you become the privileged director of this scene you will deign to remember my humble recommendation. I speak in the interest of a worthy artist, I speak in the interest of art, I hope you will listen to me..."
