118 - André GIDE (1869-1951), writer, Nobel... - Lot 118 - Vermot et Associés
118 - André GIDE (1869-1951), writer, Nobel Prize for Literature in 1947. Autograph letter signed to his friend the composer Raymond Bonheur, 2 p in-8, headed to his Paris address, November 18, 1932, envelope enclosed (only the front has been preserved). He has just read his letter with tears in his eyes, so lively is his friendship for him. "All the same, if you were to pass through Paris one day, what pleasure would you give me by ringing my doorbell! However much I am jostled by life, I sometimes feel very lonely, certain affections of the past have never been replaced. [Raymond Bonheur, nephew of the painter Rosa, often received Gide in Magny-les-Hameaux (the school there bears his name). He set Gide's "Les Elégies" to music. Gide wrote a beautiful tribute on Bonheur at his death and their correspondence was published]. Attached: portrait from a book
