151 - Frédéric MISTRAL (1830-1914), Provençal writer, Nobel Prize for Literature in 1904. Autograph letter signed, 1 p in-8, Maillane, October 29, 1877, to Michel-Hilaire Clément-Janin, journalist from Dijon and historian of Burgundian popular traditions. He has received his "Sobriquets des Villes et Villages de la Côte d'Or", a work which will be very useful to scholars who will study the sources and the comparison of French provincial customs. His publisher Roumanille must have sent him "L'Armana Prouvençau," which contains a piece by Poncy [the Provençal mason-poet] dedicated to Clément-Janin. "If he had forgotten, speak to my father-in-law and I will send it to you myself [Mistral had married the daughter of Maurice Rivière, a mustard merchant, a year before in Dijon].
