355 - Maurice CHEVALIER (1888-1972), the famous singer. Unique set of his memoirs "Ma route et mes chansons", 8 volumes from his personal library at La Louque. The first volume, published in 1946 by Julliard, is here in a numbered copy on white Swedish vellum, bound in half brown morocco. The following 6 volumes, still published by Julliard, in 1947, 1948, 1950, 1952, 1954, are numbered from an edition of 200 copies (the 1954 edition is the first of 150), all dedicated and signed by Maurice Chevalier to his wife Odette in 1970 "For Odette, the most moving femininity I find", "For Odette, with my hand in hers", "For Odette, whom I hope to be able to love more than PAR CI PAR LA but until the end, Love", "For Odette, the most beautiful feminine look that seems to say Y A TANT D'AMOUR, her favourite author who prefers her! ", "Hop Hop Hop Odette! Read the GOLDEN NOCES during Maurice's absence in the USA ", " Oh Oh Oh O...debt, from a FRENCH CRAFTSMAN who only asks to work for your happiness ". Volume 7, still published by Julliard in 1963, is an author's copy, with the autograph dedication of 1970 : " For Odette, with SIXTY-FIVE BERGES of experience on what tenderness, respect and humble dignity represent ".
