"His Majesty (LOUIS XVI) always sensitive to the needs of his subjects, and particularly attentive to those of his Farmers, has occupied himself with all the means of mitigating this temporary calamity, and of obviating the unfortunate consequences which could result from it to the prejudice of Agriculture: With this in mind, it has resolved to suspend for some time the execution of the ordinances which forbid grazing in the woods of its domains; to renew the regulations which tend to reduce consumption harmful to the reproduction of the species; to announce rewards and incentives to encourage the preservation of more livestock, and to make more students; and finally to grant all kinds of assistance which it recognizes as being necessary, ...". & Ordinance of AMELOT DE CHAILLOU, intendant in the provinces of Burgundy, Bresse & Dombes, Bugey, Valromey & Gex.
