Indeed, historically, a great number of astronomical discoveries of the first half of the 20th century were made at the Mount Wilson Observatory, among which the expansion of the Universe. The Mount Wilson Solar Observatory was founded in 1904 by George Ellery Hale. Here a superb image of the planet Jupiter and its "red spot". Circa 1940-50.period silver print.
