NASA. Apollo 11 mission. A beautiful and iconic view of the Earth. Most of Africa and portions of Europe and Asia are visible in this spectacular photograph taken from the Apollo 11 spacecraft during its trans-lunar journey to the moon. Apollo 11, with astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, commander, Michael Collins, command module pilot, and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr, lunar module pilot, was already 98,000 nautical miles from Earth when this photo was taken. While astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin descended in the lunar module (LM) "Eagle" to explore the Moon's Sea of Tranquility region, astronaut Collins remained with the command and service module (CSM) "Columbia" in lunar orbit. July 17, 1969. vintage chromogenic print on paper: "THIS PAPER MANUFACTURED BY KODAK". 25.5 x 20.3CM with margins.
