NASA. Apollo 16 mission. Apollo 16 Lunar Module Pilot Charles M. Duke Jr. is pictured collecting lunar samples at Station 1 during the first Apollo 16 EVA at the Descartes landing site. This photo, looking east, was taken by astronaut John W. Young, commander. Duke is standing at the edge of Plum Crater, which is 40 meters in diameter and 10 meters deep.
