NASA
NASA. An exceptional, rare and superb orbital view of the globe from the space shuttle ENDEAVOUR (STS-49 missions). The wave of clouds visible in the center of the image is actually a huge sandstorm breaking over the Sahara between the borders of Algeria and Niger. This is one of the best photographs ever taken of a sandstorm on Earth by the scientific community. It can be seen that small cumulus clouds have formed in the most vigorous rising air parts of the dust front increasing the visual impact of the sandstorm front. This type of storm can cross the Atlantic bringing sand to America under certain circumstances. May 13, 1992.5Period chromogenic print on paper: "KODAK". NASA logo and numbering in the margin on the front. NASA logo and typed caption on the back. 20,2 x 25,4cm with margins.
