Nasa. Rare. Spectacular photograph of the liftoff of Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-96) on May 27, 1999. The nearly 10-day STS-96 mission was the second assembly and resupply flight to the International Space Station (ISS) and the first docking flight to the station. The crew installed footpads and the Russian-built crane, STRELA. The shuttle's dual SPACEHAB module carried internal and resupply cargo for the station's outfitting and the Russian cargo crane was carried aboard the shuttle in the Integrated Cargo Carrier (ICC).Vintage chromogenic print.
