Nasa. LARGE FORMAT. Apollo 17 mission. In December 1972, Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt spent about 75 hours on the Moon in the Taurus-Littrow Valley. At the start of their third and final excursion across the lunar surface, Schmitt took this photo of Cernan flanked by an American flag and their vehicle's high-gain umbrella-shaped antenna. The prominent sculpted hills are in the background, while Schmitt's reflection is visible in Cernan's helmet.Later chromogenic print. Numbering on the front.
