HUBBLE must investigate whether it is a gravitational distortion or a chance superposition of a star in our own galaxy and a quasar. The horizontal bar on the bottom left of the image represents the "second arc" which is equivalent to the diameter of a penny when viewed from a distance of approximately two miles.
