NASA. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE TELESCOPE. Composed... - Lot 229 - Vermot et Associés
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE TELESCOPE. Composed of gas and dust, the pillar pictured is in a tumultuous stellar nursery called the Carina Nebula, located 7500 light-years away in the southern constellation Carina. Taken in visible light, the image shows the end of the three-light-year long pillar bathed in the glow of the hot, massive stars at the top of the image. The burning radiation and fast winds (streams of charged particles) from these stars sculpt the pillar and cause new stars to form within it. Streams of gas and dust can be seen flowing from the top of the structure. Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 observed the Carina Nebula from July 24-30, 2009. WFC3 was installed aboard Hubble in May 2009 during servicing mission 4. The composite image was made using filters that isolate the emission of iron, magnesium, oxygen, hydrogen and sulfur.Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin on the front. Legend on the back label. 40,6 X 40,6CM with margins.
