We are on April 24, 1990 and the space shuttle DISCOVERY (Mission STS-31) has just launched a satellite which will revolutionize the History of astrophysics and the knowledge of the Universe by Man: HUBBLE. Here in the center of the image, we distinguish its deployed silhouette which is drawn in front of a snowy zone of the globe. Its solar panels are deployed and on the top of the image the extremity of its ex-umbilical cord: that of the articulated arm of the space shuttle. Vintage chromogenic print on "KODAK" paper.
