Apollo XI : black & white photo of the Apollo XI crew, N. Armstrong, B. Aldrin and M. Collins going towards the van which must lead them on the launching pad on July 16, 1969. Photo dedicated by N. Armstrong Cdt. of the mission and Mr. Collins "CMS Columbia" pilot, accompanied by a metal replica of the plaque that the Apollo 11 astronauts left on the Moon in commemoration of the historical event. The plaque was attached to the landing gear strut on the descent stage of the Apollo 11 lunar module (LM Eagle) in a 30 x 40 cm frame. - On July 16, 1969, from Launch Complex 39 at Cape Canaveral, liftoff occurred at the scheduled time: 1:32 p.m. UTC (9:32 a.m. Eastern Time). Immediately, the Saturn V launcher, heavy of more than 3 000 tons, rises slowly, 13.2 seconds later, it begins to take its flight azimuth of 72.058°. * Crew : Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins (Saturn V rocket, CMS Columbia - LM Eagle). .
