Marc SEGUIN, known as SEGUIN Ainé, scientist, inventor and engineer. Grandson of Joseph de MONTGOLFIER. He patented his tubular boiler in 1827 and applied it to steam locomotives. The SEGUIN locomotive ran on the railway line from St Etienne to Lyon. Letter A.S. " SEGUIN Ainé " of LYON (69) February 8, 1829, 2 pages in-4°. Addressed to Mr RAYMOND Civil Engineer in St Etienne (LOIRE). "I received in time, My Dear Mr. Raymond, the letter by which you testify to me the reluctance that you feel to continue the work of the drilling of which you were in charge and I had asked Mr. BLANC to tell you that I did not have any obstacle to leave you any freedom on this subject...". Another letter of LYON July 28, 1829, addressed to Mr. Raymond, concerning his fees and disbursements in the operation of which he was in charge for the Company of the Canal is joined.
