In his introduction, Voltaire praises the Encyclopedia, he denounces the various forgeries as well as the contributions of disreputable authors, who, after having opposed the project, would try to deviate from it.The Jesuits of Trévoux are particularly targeted by this warning.Voltaire proposes here, in alphabetical order, a kind of personal encyclopedia largely taken from his previous writings, in particular the Philosophical Dictionary and the Reason by alphabet. Among the most famous articles: Atheism (see Epistle to the author of the book of the three impostors), Curiosity, Ceremonies, Jews, Justice (Ch. De La Barre), etc... Good copy.
