Nasa. Apollo 15 mission. Impressive view of two twin lunar craters and an ancient lava flow reminiscent of the silhouette of a "Cobra". August 4, 1971. Aristarchus and Herodotus craters photographed from lunar orbit. The "Cobra head" volcanic vent fed a river of lava that flowed down the Aristatuchus plateau before spilling into the lava plains of Oceanus Procellarum. To the east (left) of the Cobra head is the Aristarchus crater and to the west (right) the Herodotus crater; the Marius crater (40 kilometers in diameter) is in the distance, very close to the limb.Later chromogenic print. Numbering on the front in the margin. Legend on the back label. 40,6 x 40,6cm with margins.
