NASA. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE TELESCOPE. Looking... - Lot 229 - Vermot et Associés
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE TELESCOPE. Looking like a nightmarish beast emerging from a crimson sea, this celestial object is actually just a pillar of gas and dust. Called the Cone Nebula - so named because in images taken from the ground it has a conical shape - this monstrous column is located in a region of turbulent star formation. This image, taken by the brand-new Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) aboard the Hubble Space Telescope shows the top 2.5 light-years of the cone, a height equivalent to 23 million round trips to the Moon. The entire pillar is seven light-years long. 2002.Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin on the front. 40,6 X 40,6CM with margins.
