Cycling/PAris-Brest/La Française/Mich/Chatellerault/E/Georget.... - Lot 76 - Vermot et Associés
Cycling/PAris-Brest/La Française/Mich/Chatellerault/E/Georget. Sublime lithograph of Mich, in an astonishing state of freshness: "Paris-Brest 1901, at ten years of interval, the victory remains faithful to La Française" "Indeed, 10 years after Garin, it is Emile Georget of Chatellerault, who at 29 years, takes the bouquet in the great classic, his most beautiful victory (the 1196 km at almost 24km/h). Superb image with a conquering goddess of the victory riding of course a tricolor machine between the two whirlpools. Note that in this fundamental decennial in the history of cycling, the rider who passes each time in the lead in Brest, therefore at mid-course, never wins. First it was Jiel-Laval in 1891, then the fabulous Lesna in 1901, and here in 1911, the smiling Cornet (4th in the final), winner of the 1904 Tour. In this 1911 edition, curiosity, Garin winner in 1901, is still there and finishes 10th, taking only 6h more than in 1901... 160cm-120. TBE. Printed by Marcial-Goffin. This race is also marked by the tire war for the winners, Michelin in 1891, Dunlop in 1901, and Continental in 1911. Piece for a Museum in Brest, Châtellerault or St Etienne.
