NASA. First observation (1/3) and zenithal of the eye of Typhoon Yuri from the space shuttle ATLANTIS (Mission STS-44). The astronauts of the space shuttle ATLANTIS took 3 photographs of this Typhoon constituting a unique series. Realized with a 70mm lens, this photograph gives an excellent and very rare view of the wall of the eye of the cyclone. This one is located at an approximate altitude of 14 to 16 kilometers above the ocean. The eye is here filled with clouds but in the third photograph of the series, the eye allows a glimpse of the ocean through its thickness. November 1991. chromogenic print on paper : "KODAK".
