Observed from the space shuttle ATLANTIS (Mission STS-44), the spectacular Typhoon Yuri started to form more than 1000 miles off the coast of the Philippine Islands. In the background, we can see the terrestrial limbo at the junction of the Earth and the vacuum of space. The winds of the Typhoon causing this impressive cloudy swirl around its eye, range between 145 and 170 miles per hour. November 1991. chromogenic print of time on paper: "KODAK".
