Comte de GOYON (Charles Marie Augustin)
Military, Senator and President of the General Council of the CÔTES-DU-NORD. (Nantes 1803 - 1870) - Private autograph letter signed "Le Général Count of GOYON" of SAINT-BRIEUC August 27, 1852, to his Imperial Highness Imperial Prince LOUIS NAPOLÉON BONAPARTE President (Future Napoleon III). 4pages in-4°: "My Lord. I went in accordance with your orders to the General Council of the Northern Coasts; and you must have received the address which it voted you. Not unanimously, but with a great majority. I was received in the country in the best possible way, not so much as a member of one of its oldest families, as as an aide-de-camp to Your Imperial Highness. I believe I can affirm it to you; for all the Legitimists and all the Conservatives, who are by their higher positions, those with whom I have been and am most in touch, are with very few exceptions, grateful and devoted to you. The Breton Agricultural Congress, composed of delegates from the five departments of Brittany, is to meet in the first days of October in ST-BRIEUC, Mr. Prefect has the goodness to place at the Prefecture at the disposal of the congress, if the President is a man attached and devoted to your government. This Presidency is offered to me, and I am in a great hurry to put myself forward as a candidate, I am assured of success and I can only accept, especially in my position near you, with your consent..."
