Daniel DOLLFUS AUSSET (1787 - 1870)
Engineer, Glaciologist. Autograph letter signed RIEDISHEIM (Haut-Rhin) 9 February 1864. 2 pages in-8°, about his literary works. "Mr. SILBERMANN. I make spreads & I put them in the ovens of Messieurs les Imprimeurs under the title of Matériaux pour l'Étude des Glaciers, in my capacity of Naturalist, admirer of the works & of the know-how of the Great architect of the Universe. Moreover, I am a printer and a cloth dauber. On the first day 2 volumes will be published under the title; Materials for the coloring of fabrics. Here is the degree of civilization to which I arrived in February 1864. As for the biographical details of my individual, I will tell you frankly that it is a category that I leave to others to develop & to correct the proofs printed on my account. Perhaps one day I will enjoy publishing the Zig-Zag journey of my individual, in the industrial career & in my scientific researches, but for the moment it cannot be done. As for the photographic portrait of Dollfus-Ausset, I cannot send it to you..."
