SAY (Jean Baptiste) Economist, Tribune. He accompanied Bonaparte in Egypt, he was one of the masters of the Doctrine of Free Trade; his books of Political Economy were for a long time an authority in the whole world. (Lyon 1767 - 1832) Letter A.S. " J. B. SAY ", from AUCHY près HESDIN (Auchy-Lès-Hesdin 62) on September 10, 1806, addressed to his friend AMAURY DUVAL (Writer and Historian, Founder of the Revue Philosophique), 7 rue de Grenelle in Paris. He sends him two stories for the Revue philosophique. He misses him and asks him for news. Jean Baptiste SAY founds his spinning mill which starts in the buildings of the old Abbey of AUCHY (Pas-de-Calais) with 80 workers and looms operated by a hydraulic engine. The business develops rapidly and in 1810, with the addition of new buildings, the factory employs 400 workers and spins 100 kilos of cotton per day.
