COLLECTIVE including GRIMOD de LA REYNIERE,...
François Mauss and Vinvest Consultants LTD, October 1990, expl.n° 61/250 only published for the members of the association "Traditions et Qualités" during their meeting at the "Villa Romaine" of Marcel Kreusch in Brussels in autumn 1990, reprint in facsimile of the original edition of Charles-Béchet in Paris in 1828, large in-8, full dark brown "chagrinée" percaline, fillet and fleurons in the 4 cold corners on the boards, 2 fleurons, fillet and title gilt on the spine with 4 nerves, all edges gilt, contemporary binding made by the Fritzen workshop in Germany, VIII - 503 - (3) pp., cream paper, frontispiece "Promenade nutritive" drawn and engraved by Rouargue, Avertissement, Preliminary speech by Honoré de Balzac as well as numerous notes by the same author, table of contents, alphabetical table, publisher's catalogue, ref. Vicaire 389. Superb reprint of this great classic of culinary literature written, in collaboration, by Grimod de La Reynière, Cadet de Gassicourt, Honoré de Balzac and Horace Raisson. This book is probably the testament of the gastronome's circle "le Caveau" which had just died out! This book was printed by the same Honoré de Balzac. This book can be "compared", by its tone and its presentation, to "the physiology of taste" of Brillat-Savarin! 250 copies of this book were printed during the meeting of the association "Traditions et Qualités" which took place in October 1990 at the three-star Michelin restaurant "La Villa Romaine" of Marcel Kreusch in Brussels. This restaurant now belongs to the Litvin family and to its chef Yves Mattagne. Well completed with the flyer put at the disposal of the members. Nice copy.
