The Countess D'HOUDETOT, known as Madame d'Houdetot, friend of ROUSSEAU. Élisabeth Sophie Françoise Lalive de Bellegarde (1730-1813), Countess d'Houdetot was the daughter of the farmer general Louis-Denis-Joseph Lalive de Bellegarde and Marie-Thérèse-Josèphe Prouveur. On February 28, 1748, she married Count d'Houdetot Claude-Constant-César (1724-1806), Marshal of Camp. This writer inspired Jean-Jacques Rousseau for "La nouvelle Héloïse" and "Confessions".
