HAUTE-SAÔNE (70) - CHERLIEU Abbey / Charter on parchment (50 x 34 cm), given on April 19, 1525, by which Claude de NICEY, Abbot of the Cistercian monastery of Cherlieu, leases land in Courcelles to François de Montfort and his wife Claudine, near the villages of Cornot and Combeaufontaine (Claude Nicey became Abbot of Cherlieu in 1522, and was awarded a doctorate in theology by Pope Paul III in recognition of his science - Cherlieu Abbey was burnt down by Huguenots in 1569).
