"LA LANTERNE" - Henri ROCHEFORT (1831-1913, polemical journalist) / Head of collection: reunion of 75 issues of this famous satirical newspaper "La Lanterne" which appeared clandestinely from the 11th issue: from issue no. 1 of May 31, 1868 to issue no. 76 of November 13, 1869 (issue no. 75 is missing) - the set is presented in 7 volumes, indistinctly bound in red half-basin, ornate ribbed spine, each volume is numbered from 10 to 10, each issue is approximately 60 p in-12 (8.5 x 13 cm), the first 8 issues are continuously paginated from 1 to 483, each issue has its own pagination thereafter, the first 10 issues were printed in Paris by Dubuisson, and bear the Empire's tax stamp on the first page; the covers have not been preserved - Issue no. 11 was seized for offenses against the Emperor, and Henri Rochefort was sentenced to 13 months' imprisonment and a 10,000-fr fine, and had to go into exile in Brussels, where he found refuge with Victor Hugo - Issue no. 11 is present in this set, but like all subsequent issues, the printer is Wittman in Brussels.
