Women's cycling/Legrand. Superb etching by... - Lot 35 - Vermot et Associés
Women's cycling/Legrand. Superb etching by the great Louis Legrand (1863-1951): "Dimanche". When la môme Dujazon, a young girl, leaves the work force and takes a break with the Apaches... we get this masterpiece printed at 30ex on 30 (for ours). This gem (despite a trace of tape and a small tear), which can be dated to 1903, allows Lautrec's precursor to revive his initial libertine verve. The racing car may be passing by, but we're still having a bit of a good time with Mimile, thanks to the bicycle. In fact, we're not so far from Lautrec's famous "Floréal". Louis, who signs in the work and in pencil in the margin, shows us just how much freedom the bicycle brought. 19x25cm.
