Cycling/Tour de France/Duboc/Rouen/Tram/Alavoine.... - Lot 82 - Vermot et Associés
Cycling/Tour de France/Duboc/Rouen/Tram/Alavoine. Exceptional original press photo, silver print, taken from a second floor during the Rouen control (14th and last stage of the 1909 Tour)...Between the Sunday, August 1, 1909 crowd in their Sunday best and the streetcars and their fateful rails for wooden rims, it's the local crack, the famous and mysterious Paul Duboc, who leads ahead of Henri and Jean Alavoine, who will triumph at the Parc. Both were members of the sky-blue Alcyon team, which won with Colombes giant François Faber. Duboc should have won the 1911 Tour, but he had switched brands and was unluckily poisoned in the Pyrenees. Those were heroic times. Right corner folded and consolidated with scotch tape, not at all interfering with the essential part of the document. 13X18. Need we say that action photos are rare?
