Rugby/ Paris/Jean Bouin. Two stunning original... - Lot 366 - Vermot et Associés
Rugby/ Paris/Jean Bouin. Two stunning original photos (silver print, 12.5x18) of the Paris-Landes match of February 20, 1949, played at the Jean-Bouin stadium in front of 10,000 spectators. It was the time of Ovalie, and the Parisians with Dufau, Frémaux, Lacheze and Robert Duthen (Stade Français-Puc-Racing) had dominated the visitors by 9-8, after leading 9-0 at half-time. The Basco-Landais with Alvarez, Lassaossa, Pascalin, Dizabo and Beheregaray had the second half to themselves. A fine match," says L'Equipe's special correspondent Georges Duthen... His last lines: "It's a pity, however, that the wingers weren't served more often on classic attack..." allude to his brother Robert, 3/4 wing of the S.F., captain of the Parisian selection, and future great journalist. These two photos (one posed, the other animated) clearly show the Stade and its setting, as well as Dizabo, Crabos, Pascalin and Behegaray.
