Contains 7 detailed treatises as well as "important additions and comments by the German translator" (Jantz). - John Pordage (1607-81) was one of Jakob Böhme's first disciples in England. 18th-century Böhme editions. Short texts by him have been included (cf. Buddecke p. 104 ff.). "It is essentially a question of Cabalism, which Pordage presents only under particular images and in the language of mystical rapture, just as it is encountered in Böhme's writings" (Jöcher/Adelung VI, 654). Pordage expanded Böhme's theosophy with his own visions and influenced, among others, Gichtel and German Pietism. - The copperplates show the spheres of the visible and invisible world. - text complete, with blank leaves present, covered with period annotations.
